Behind The Booth: Marilyn Monroe & Booth 29
Marilyn Monroe (1926 - 1962) was a beloved actress, model, and singer who captivated the hearts of millions with her timeless beauty, charisma, and talent. Her journey from a humble beginning to becoming one of the most enduring symbols of Hollywood glamour is a story etched in the annals of cinema history, along with her tragic death at the age of 36 in 1962.

Monroe's life was a tapestry of triumphs and struggles. She endured a tumultuous childhood marked by foster homes and hardship, yet continued to pursue her dreams of stardom with unwavering determination. Her breakthrough came in the 1950s, as she rose to become an icon of the silver screen, gracing films such as "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" and "Some Like It Hot."

Her status as a Hollywood sex symbol brought difficulties to her romantic relationships, including her short marriage to American baseball player Joe DiMaggio. When they were together, the pair would enjoy intimate dinners together at the Steer, frequenting Joe's dedicated Booth 26. After their marriage ended, Monroe secured her own booth directly in front of his - Booth 29 - and would come to enjoy a ribeye steak and glass of champagne on her own and as one of the "Rat Pack Mascots".

To celebrate Monroe's life, legacy, and patronage to the Steer, we've dedicated Booth 29 to her memory.
